Three held as online fraud network busted

MAILSI:

Authorities claimed to have uncovered an alleged online fraud network operating from villages near Mailsi, arresting three suspected members of a 14-member gang accused of defrauding victims in Pakistan and abroad through fake social media schemes

The operation was carried out by Tibba Sultanpur police, intelligence agencies and the Elite Force during raids in Chak 116/WB and Chak 118/WB

The arrested suspects were identified as Jahangir, son of Yaseen, Muhammad Waseem, son of Ibrahim, and Ejaz, son of Shehzad, all residents of Chak 116/WB

According to a police spokesperson, the suspects were part of an organised 14-member group that allegedly used fake social media accounts to deceive people through various online scams

Investigators said the gang lured victims by offering fake marriage proposals, requesting financial assistance, claiming to send expensive gifts from overseas
