Optimizing for AI search is, in many ways, similar to traditional search engine optimization (SEO). You still need to identify keywords, track metrics, and understand where your competitors stand in search results. But you also need access to the right generative engine optimization (GEO) tools, which may not be the same as your standard SEO tech stack
In this guide, I’ll walk through seven reliable tools that you can use to track your competitors’ visibility in AI search. This way, you can get a good handle on how your site should improve…and where you might already be winning the AI search race

1. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: Best for Freelancers and Agencies
The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit allows you to analyze your competitors in several ways
With this toolkit, you can:
- See top competitors across answer engine results
- Track your clicks, citations, and mentions in AI-generated answers
- Run an AI visibility report to get a list of search term topic gaps
- Explore each competitor’s standings, strengths, and weaknesses in large language model (LLM) search
And with the resulting information, you can:
- Better understand how competitive you actually are in AI search results
- Learn how frequently your competitors are being mentioned and cited by answer engines
- Develop a content and optimization strategy to improve your AI search visibility
How Much Does the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit Cost?
The AI Visibility Toolkit is part of every Semrush One subscription. Plan prices start at $165.17 per month when billed annually
All Semrush One plans include an AI Visibility Toolkit license for one domain. If you have more sites you’d like to monitor, you can add them to your plan for $99 per domain, per month
Why I recommend this: I love the flexibility that you get when using the Semrush AI Toolkit. As someone who works with a variety of different companies throughout the year, I like the ability to add and remove domains as needed without paying a steep cost annually for more licenses than I’ll use
Ahrefs Brand Radar takes the platform’s SEO tools and adjusts them to focus on LLM search

When using Brand Radar, you can see:
- Your top competitors in AI search results
- If your competitors have more AI mentions than you
- How many websites link to or mention your brand
- How frequently your brand is mentioned in YouTube video titles and descriptions
Tip:Knowing how your brand, or a competitor’s, is mentioned across other websites is important. Just as backlinks support good SEO, mentions on other websites (even if not linked) can influence how LLMs perceive and reference your brand
You can toggle the Brand Radar results between several different AI search products, too, including:
- AI Overviews
- AI Mode
- ChatGPT
- Perplexity
- Copilot
- Gemini
Brand Radar has a lot of similarities with Semrush, which makes sense as Ahrefs is another well-established SEO tool. Ultimately, I think either tool is a good choice for assessing brand visibility. Semrush’s additional domain-specific AI visibility tools are very well suited to agencies, though, while Ahrefs’ tool is a good fit for individual brands already using the platform for broader SEO research.
How Much Does Ahrefs Brand Radar Cost?
You can access Brand Radar with a paid Ahrefs account at the Lite tier or higher. Plans start at $108 per month when billed annually
Why I recommend this: Like Semrush, Ahrefs is a reliable platform for SEO data. If you’re already using Ahrefs or like the platform’s interface, then Brand Radar is a good choice. (Check out our full comparison of the AI Visibility Toolkit vs. Band Radar to learn more.)
3. OtterlyAI: Best for Small Budgets
OtterlyAI is an AI brand visibility platform that shows you how your site stacks up against competitors in answer engine results

Like some of the other AI visibility platforms on this list, OtterlyAI helps you identify competitors in AI search based on your brand and industry. You can use the competitor tool to track who’s getting the most mentions and citations across different LLMs
Where OtterlyAI really stands out is in its prompt research tool. You can generate lists of possible AI prompts based on a:
- Domain
- Industry
- Keyword
These lists include volume and search intent information, so they feel similar to the traditional SEO keyword reports you get from Semrush or Ahrefs. If you add some of the prompts to one of your domain and competitor analysis reports, you’ll see information about:
- Competitor mentions and citations
- Your mentions and citations
- Each competitor’s average position in LLM search results
How Much Does OtterlyAI Cost?
OtterlyAI plans start at $29 per month
Why I recommend this: Otterly offers a more affordable entry-level plan than many AI tracking tools. This makes Otterly a good option for people who are just starting out with AI visibility tracking, or for small marketing teams and freelance projects without heavy analysis needs
Waikay is a unique AI competitor monitoring tool. Rather than showing you how your competitors stack up against you in search results, Waikay lets you see how well an LLM knows both you and your competition

To use Waikay, you’ll need to set up a project based on a domain (I suggest starting with your own) and add two competitors. You can either pick competitors that Waikay suggests based on your website, or manually add domains of your choice
Waikay will then scan all three sites and return information about:
- Each brand’s presence in LLM training data
- Examples of what a particular LLM will say when prompted about a website
- What information LLMs can glean by crawling each domain
- The entities associated with your site by LLMs
- How LLMs respond about your (or competitors’) websites in relation to specific topics
It’s easy to repeat this process for various groups of competitors, and you can even run a report using a competing site as the primary focus
How Much Does Waikay Cost?
Waikay plans start at $69.95 per month, though the company periodically offers cheaper plans meant for freelancers and solopreneurs who don’t need to generate a high volume of AI visibility reports each month
Why I recommend this:Waikay is the only tool I’ve found so far that tells me if a site is included in an LLM’s training data or not. Its content analysis is in depth, though not always 100% correct—so as with any AI-related tool, it’s important to still use your judgment. I also appreciate that Waikay includes information about Claude; many similar tools don’t

5. Peec AI: Best for Large Enterprises
Peec AI is a tool for analyzing AI search analytics

You can enter both your brand and competitors to see:
- Who has the most mentions and citations
- The average sentiment expressed by LLMs about each brand
- Typical placement in AI answers (similar to search engine results page rank)
- What prompts cause answer engines to cite or mention different competitor websites
Like OtterlyAI, Peec AI shows you the search intent behind the different prompts that trigger mentions or citations for your brand and competitors
Most users will be able to track their brand and competition across three answer engines. You can choose from a list that includes ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, and Google’s AI Mode and AI Overviews
Enterprise users, though, can get access to a much wider array of LLMs, including Qwen, Deepseek, and Claude. Enterprise customers can also track an unlimited number of LLMs
How Much Does Peec AI Cost?
Peec AI plans start at $95 per month for businesses and $245 per month for agencies. Enterprise pricing is available upon request
Why I recommend this: Peec AI is a good option for enterprise companies and very large agencies thanks to its inclusion of different AI models
6. Kime: Best for Businesses in Europe
Kime is an AI visibility tool that’s similar in many ways to Peec AI and OtterlyAI

You can use it to:
- Find and track competitors
- Evaluate what prompts are currently driving or likely to drive citations and mentions
- Generate an action plan to improve AI responses about your brand vs. competitors
You can actually use Kime as both a research and project management tool. The app lets you assign team members tasks to help improve your AI search presence and ultimately overtake competitors in mentions or citations
Many of Kime’s suggestions are based on topic gap analysis, though, which you can do in Semrush. Kime simply provides suggestions to you, where Semrush’s tool is more self-directed
The most unique thing about Kime is its inclusion of Grok and Meta AI in the list of LLMs you can analyze. If you need to grow your brand’s presence on <a href="https://justfineinfotech.com/interpol-fraud-bust-confirms-scammers-prey-on-social-media/" title="INTERPOL fraud bust confirms scammers prey on social media“>social media, then Kime’s data may be more helpful than what you can get from a standard AI visibility platform
How Much Does Kime Cost?
Kime is headquartered in Denmark and its plans start at €127 per month (billed annually), which makes it a convenient choice for companies in Europe
Why I recommend this:Many AI-related companies are based in the U.S., so Kime’s European location is a good alternative for companies that want to be billed in Euros
7. WorkDuo: Best for E-Commerce Companies
WorkDuo’s AI analysis platform is focused on the agentic shopping process, making it a good choice for e-commerce brands

When you use WorkDuo, you can see:
- What products and brands are recommended by LLMs
- The kind of intent that drives different product-focused prompts
- Shifts in AI search trends
- Competitors by industry, product, and region
Plus, if you use Shopify, you can sync data from your store to WorkDuo and conduct deeper analysis around your products and top competitors in LLM results
Tip:You can use Exploding Topics Pro to monitor top e-commerce products and related search trends. Pair this information with the data you get from WorkDuo to have the best possible understanding of your market, competitors, and LLM sentiment now and in the near future
How Much Does WorkDuo Cost?
WorkDuo uses per-project pricing, with options starting at $29 per month when billed annually
Why I recommend this:WorkDuo’s connection to Shopify and its product-focused tools will be increasingly useful for many brands as AI-powered shopping increases around the world
