Affirm and Shopify Take Shop Pay Installments to Australia
Australian shoppers can now select installment payments powered by Affirm when they click on Shopify’s Shop Pay button, Affirm said in a Thursday (Aug. 27) press release
This capability is enabled by the global partnership of Affirm and Shopify, in which the companies launch Shop Pay Installments powered exclusively by Affirm. Shop Pay Installments was previously launched in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, according to the release
Now, eligible Australian shoppers can use this offering to choose to split their purchases into biweekly or monthly payments, select an interest-free or interest-bearing payment plan, and see what they will pay before committing to the purchase, the release said

“Bringing Shop Pay Installments to Australia unlocks even more flexibility and choice, helping our merchants continue to meet consumers where they are and how they like to shop,” Rohit Mishra, vice president of product, payments and cross-border at Shopify, said in the release
Nitin Kashid, Australia country manager at Affirm, said in the release: “In partnership with Shopify, Affirm built Shop Pay Installments for the future — a way to pay with even more flexible terms and no late fees, ever.”
Shopify and Affirm launched Shop Pay Installments in the U.S. in June 2021, saying this offering allows merchants to give buyers a flexible way to pay and, unlike typical buy now, pay later (BNPL) plans, doesn’t require users to pivot to a different site to complete their purchase
Shopify and Affirm announced in February 2025 that they expanded their partnership and planned to extend Shop Pay Installments to Canada and the U.K. The companies said in April 2025 that this pay over time option was available in Canada, marking its first availability outside the U.S
PYMNTS reported Thursday that Affirm’s latest quarter shows BNPL moving deeper into everyday spending, giving consumers flexibility across a growing number of transactions
During the company’s fiscal fourth quarter, Affirm’s gross merchandise volume rose 36% year over year to $14.1 billion, while transactions rose 41% to 53 million
