Without parallel efforts to train teachers, undertake curriculum changes, and bolster coordination between governmental institutions, introducing new technologies like smartboards, tablets, and laptops into schools risks creating expensive, underutilized distractions to valuable classroom learning time<\/p>\n<p>Under\u202fthe\u202fWorld Bank Group-financed\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/projects.worldbank.org\/en\/projects-operations\/project-detail\/P177845\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Improving Equitable Access to High Standard Public Services through GovTech<\/u><\/a>\u202fProgram for Results (PforR), \u202fsupported by the <u>Quality Infrastructure Investment Partnership<\/u> and the <u>Governance &amp; Institutions Umbrella Program<\/u>, Albania\u2019s Ministry of Education and Sports and the National Agency for Information Society (AKSHI) have\u202fdeveloped a coordinated model for\u202festablishing and operating SmartLabs across the country.\u202f The Ministry has led\u202fon\u202fpedagogy and teacher development,\u202fproviding training to date for 800 educators \u2014 ICT, and primary school teachers,\u202fprincipals, and local education specialists \u2014 to integrate technology across subjects.\u202fAKSHI\u2019s efforts\u202fhave focused\u202fon the digital infrastructure and connectivity needed\u202fto support\u202fthe rollout of SmartLabs nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>As <strong>Deputy\u202fMinister of Education\u202fOrjana Osmani<\/strong>\u202femphasized: &#8220;<em>This program is not just about introducing technology in schools. When I became a teacher, we continued with the same approach\u202fwith limited teaching tools,&#8221; explained Manuela Dobi, a primary school teacher at Bedrie Bebeziqi School, where Natan is enrolled<\/p>\n<p>Today, the classrooms where Manuela teaches\u202flook very different. She\u2019s learned new techniques and how to integrate digital tools like computers and tablets into her lesson plans and class activities, which are now more hands-on and focus on having students work together to solve challenges.\u202f <em>\u201cThe training we received was\u202fextraordinary. Technology has helped make learning far more interactive. This transformation has only been possible through\u202fSmartLabs,\u201d<\/em> said <strong>Anxhela Ndoj, who teaches at Va\u00e7e Zela School in Tirana.<\/strong><em>\u201cStudents are discovering their interests and strengths. And they\u2019re beginning to think about their future.
