\nDigital Kin platform in Cyprus teaches digital skills \u2014 Cyprus Mail<\/p>\n

In Cyprus, the Digital Kin platform, developed by the team at the CYENS Centre of Excellence in strategic cooperation with Cyta, is intended to help older people and residents of rural and remote areas use smartphones and digital services more confidently and safely. This was<\/p>\n

The platform was developed by a team led by Fotis Larocapis from the Extended Experiences (EX) research<\/a> group at CYENS. It includes six learning sections and more than 85 step-by-step instructions in Greek, adapted for Android smartphones and iPhones<\/p>\n

Instructions for everyday tasks<\/h2>\n

All materials are available free of charge. They cover basic smartphone functions, communication, internet use, device settings, digital services, useful apps and online safety. Users can learn how to make calls, send messages, take photos, install apps, browse websites and change common settings<\/p>\n

Instead of technical terminology, the platform uses short visual sequences. A person can select the required topic, their device type and follow the instructions at their own pace. The guides can also be downloaded as PDFs, printed or viewed without an internet connection<\/p>\n

Access to services and protection from fraudsters<\/h2>\n

Digital Kin explains how to use the beneficiary portal of Cyprus\u2019s national healthcare system, Gesy: find the service, create an account and log in. Separate instructions for JCC Smart are intended to familiarise users with digital payments and online services<\/p>\n

A significant part of the materials is devoted to cybers\u00e9curit\u00e9<\/a>. The platform teaches users to recognise signs of online fraud, avoid sharing personal information, block unknown numbers, create strong passwords and identify fake messages that may appear to come from trusted organisations<\/p>\n
