For university students looking to build skills in cloud computing and AI, Amazon Web Services has launched a program that is worth knowing about, particularly for those already studying technology-related courses<\/p>\n

AWS Student Rewards, available through the AWS Builder Center, gives verified higher education students access to 12 months of premium AWS Skill Builder, which includes more than 900 courses, hands-on labs, certification exam preparation, and game-based learning. Students can also earn AWS credits and eventually unlock a voucher for an AWS Foundational Certification exam<\/p>\n

The program is available to students who are at least 18 years old and enrolled in accredited higher education institutions, with student status verified through SheerID. AWS says the initiative represents more than $500 million in re<\/p>\n

There is a catch, although it is less complicated than it might sound. Students have to participate in the Builder Center community to unlock the additional rewards<\/p>\n

After verifying their student status and completing their profile, students get the 12 months of premium Skill Builder access. From there, they can earn badges through activities on Builder Center, including publishing articles, commenting, and maintaining engagement. Seven badges unlock $10 in AWS credits, 14 unlock another $20, and 21 badges unlock a $100 AWS Foundational Certification exam voucher. AWS puts the potential value of the complete package at $579 per student.<\/p>\n

For students, the certification voucher may be the most immediately useful part of the program. AWS certifications can give students something concrete to work toward while they are still in school, while the Skill Builder courses and hands-on labs provide a way to build practical experience alongside their regular classes<\/p>\n

The AWS Builder Center itself is not limited to students. It also functions as a community for developers, with workshops, articles, project sharing, public profiles, and topic-based community spaces. AWS has also added sandbox environments that allow builders to complete certain workshop exercises without using a personal AWS account or credit card<\/p>\n

There is also a local community component for Filipino students. AWS Student Builder Groups are student-led communities where students can learn about cloud technology, work on projects, and connect with other students. AWS says its broader cloud communities in the Philippines have more than 30,000 members across Manila, Bacolod, Baguio, Cebu, and Davao<\/p>\n

Matthew Vann Erich Delgado, a senior BS Information Systems student at the University of Batangas and an AWS Student Builder Group Leader, said the program gives students more opportunities to develop their cloud skills through hands-on learning and prepare for certification exams<\/p>\n

For students who are already interested in cloud computing, AI, or software development, the program is essentially another regree, internships, personal projects, or the experience of actually building things, but it can give students access to training and certification re<\/p>\n

To get started, just sign in to AWS Builder Center, verify your student status through SheerID, complete your profile, and start working through the available learning and community activities<\/p>\n
